David Spangler Obituary

David Lee Spangler

David Lee Spangler, 71, of Leipsic, passed away at 8:34 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 9, 1953, in Lima to the late Paul and Lucille (Hermiller) Spangler. On November 14, 1975, he married his beloved wife of 49 years, Marlene Glanz, who survives in Leipsic.

Also surviving are two children, Kelly (Matt) Wagner of Miller City and Brad (Allison) Spangler of Pandora; four grandchildren, Mackenzie Wagner, Henry, Royce, and Marshall Spangler; and a brother, Dennis Spangler of Florida.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Carol Ann Spangler and Donna Jean Morman; and a brother, James Spanger.

David retired from John Deere, where he worked for over 50 years. He was very devoted to his job. David was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic and Leipsic Eagles. He enjoyed restoring tractors, working in the yard, and watching his grandsons' sporting events and granddaughter's dance recitals. David was an avid Leipsic Vikings, Pittsburg Steelers, and The Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He loved spending time with his friends and family.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic, with the Rev. Steve Schroeder and Deacon Tom Niese officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

A celebration of life with a meal will be provided after the church ceremony Friday at St. Mary's Parish Life Center, Leipsic.

Memorial donations may be made to Putnam County Homecare and Hospice or a charity of the donor's choice.
