David Simmons Obituary
David Robert Simmons Jr., 97 of Westerville, passed away at 6:48 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2025, at St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville. David was born October 24, 1927, in Rawson to the late David and Leora (Crist) Simmons.
David married Marybelle Shaw on May 20, 1951, and she preceded him in death February 4, 2013. He is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth S. "Lissa" (Lewis deceased) Wolfe of Hebron; a son, Robert S. (Linda) Simmons of Westerville; five grandchildren, Jerrod (Leah) Wolfe, Jonathon (Stacey) Wolfe, Christopher (Sarah) Simmons, Steven (Sarah) Simmons and Matthew (Nichole) Simmons; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was a 1945 graduate of Rawson High School. He was in the Engineer Corp in the U.S. Army from September 1950 to August 1952, where he was assigned to be a part of the 531st Model Making Detail. In 1956, he graduated from the University of Toledo. He was a member of the Church of the Master in Westerville, was a member of the F&AM No. 631, and enjoyed golfing.
Visitation will take place from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Moreland Funeral Home, 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville. Additional visitation will also be from 11-1 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, Ohio 45840. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Tawa Cemetery, Union Township, Hancock County, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to David R. and Marybelle S. Simmons Endowed Scholarship in care of Otterbein University, Attention: Institutional Advancement; 1 South Grove Street; Westerville, Ohio 43081.

Rob & Lissa you have my deepest sympathy in the passing of your dad. Spent countless hours at your house playing baseball, football, basketball and hitting golf balls in your side yard.
