Coleen Ann (Michaels) Jerome

Charlotte - Coleen Ann (Michaels) Jerome, 64, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023, surrounded by her family in the home that they lovingly built together over the past 32 years.

After almost nine months of courageously and heroically battling cancer, she now rests in union with God whom she believed and served so faithfully throughout her life.

For 39 years, Coleen shared her joys, sorrows, and passions with her devoted husband, Mark. Together, they raised a family of which she loved deeply and was especially proud. Her children, Andrew, David, Jonathan, and Sarah, daughters-in-law, Mary Catherine (Nelson) and Abby (Gerdeman), and granddaughter, Charlotte Catherine, continue to be inspired by the life she lived and the impact she will undoubtedly have far into the future.

Coleen was born Dec. 31, 1958, in Portage, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late J. David and Sylvia (Miscoe) Michaels. Throughout her life, Coleen constantly gave her best to everything she did, including setting high school sports records, playing the trumpet, singing in the church choir, working for Marathon Oil Company, volunteering at Saint Ann Elementary School, coaching CYO basketball teams, refereeing at the local YMCA, playing the slots, tending to her yard, caring for her neighbors, traveling with her sisters, fixing up the house, cheering on her favorite athletes, and rooting for Pittsburgh Steelers.

She never gave any person, any relationship, any project, or any moment less than her very best. And, for those of us who knew and loved her, she was a gift whose infectious laughter, competitive spirit, sharp intellect, and joyful presence will be sorely missed.

For the past 29 years, Coleen was a parishioner of Saint Matthew Roman Catholic Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she regularly attended daily Mass and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
