Clarabeth Bixel

Clarabeth Bixel, 87, passed away Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, at Willow Ridge - Frieda House, Bluffton.

Clarabeth was born Jan. 29, 1936, in Pandora, to Archie and Velma (Miller) Diller. She married Dwight Bixel on April 2, 1955, and he preceded her in death Oct. 24, 2017.

Clarabeth was a homemaker and former nurse at Bluffton Hospital, Mennonite Memorial Home, and Red Cross. She was a member of Ebenezer Mennonite Church, where she taught first grade Sunday School for many years. Clarabeth also participated in short term mission trips and served meals at Our Daily Bread for over 20 years. She was a board member for Mennonite Memorial Home and also served on the Women's Auxiliary for the Gideons.

Clarabeth's survivors include three children, Jane (Steve) Shaw, Amy Bixel, and Seth (Carol) Bixel; four grandchildren, John (Jaime) Shaw, Anna Vast, Alyssa (Jacob) Rowland, and Alaina (Logan) Skelly; five great-grandchildren, Taryn and Tyler Shaw, Noah Skelly, and Theo and Poppy Rowland; two brothers, Pete (Marilu) Diller and Darrell Diller; and brother-in-law, Bill Croft.

Clarabeth was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Rachel Diller, JoAnna Croft, Jean Suter, and Cathryn Kiene; and brother, Ted Diller.

Clarabeth's services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023, at Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton. Pastors Jim King and David Glick will officiate. Private burial will be at Ebenezer Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
