Charles E. Murray, 89, of Rock Falls, died on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Franklin Grove Living and Rehabilitation Center in Franklin Grove.
Charles was born on March 17, 1933 in Chicago, IL the son of Alfred and Margaret (Steltzer) Murray. He is a United States Army Veteran and served in the Korean War from 1951 – 1954, where he earned two Bronze Star Medals. Chuck married Teresa Kent on May 8, 1976 in Dixon. He worked for the Sterling Police Department for close to 30 years, beginning as an Officer, then as a Detective and Lieutenant for 20 years. He enjoyed watching game shows, the Chicago Cubs, and going for walks.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa; four daughters, Diane (Art) Folsom of Mountain City, TN, Margaret Murray of East Moline, Michelle (Kenny) Gries of Amboy, and Vicky (Dave) Lee of Mukwonago, WI; two sons, Nick (Kim) Walters of Rock Falls, Mike (Diana) Walters of Sterling; daughter-in-law, Jackie Kent of Rock Falls; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Rick Kent and William Walters.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, June 27, 2022 from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Memorial service will follow at the funeral home at 2:00 P.M. Burial with Military Honors will conclude at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling.
Memorials have been established to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
