Carolyn Harvey Obituary

Carolyn Harvey

Carolyn Faye Harvey, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday, May 12, 2025, at the age of 88. She is now comforted in the arms of her Savior. She was born August 19, 1936, in Bluffton, to George and Dolores (Baker) Bame, who preceded her in death. She married Melvin Harvey March 3, 1956, and he died April 23, 2012. She was also preceded in death by a son, Curtis Harvey; her brother, Dennis (Karen) Bame; and her sister, Marilyn (Warren) Pratt.

She leaves behind her four children, Barbara (Daniel) Ratliff, Germantown, Ohio, Sharon (Daniel) Rayle, St. Louis, Missouri, Ronald (Belinda) Harvey, Findlay, and Patricia (Scott) Bakies, Findlay. One of Carolyn's greatest joys were her 18 grandchildren, Michael (Sarah) Ratliff, Jennifer (Kevin) Flott, Justin Ratliff, Kaitlyn Ratliff, Dolores (Gerlin) Valencia, Nathaniel (Jessie Rae) Rayle, Benjamin (Angela) Rayle, Victoria Rayle, Jason (Marissa) Harvey, Nakita (Brad) Millhouse, Tyler Harvey, Matthew (Crystal) Harvey, Adam Harvey (Adam D'Agostino), Todd (Brandon) Gano; bonus granddaughter, Lydia (Jake) Adams, Ashley (Aaron) Strange, Angela (Michael) Boctor, and Elijah (Katie) Bakies. In addition, she has 30 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She demonstrated her love for family in countless ways over the years and was a blessing to all. She never failed to solve the morning newspaper's daily crossword and cryptoquote. She was always ready to play board and card games of all kinds and enjoyed puzzles. She published a monthly family newsletter for over 20 years, never missing an issue.

She attended Van Buren United Methodist Church. Carolyn had numerous jobs throughout the years. She worked at Triplett in Bluffton, Pruitt Moving & Storage, The Heritage Nursing Home, was co-owner of Harvey Advertising with her son Ron, and most recently secretary at Concordia Lutheran Church.

A celebration of Carolyn's life will be from 11-1 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home in Findlay.

The family requests that memorial donations can be made to Bridge Home Health & Hospice, Findlay.
