Carl Huth Obituary

Carl J. Huth III

Carl John Huth III, 77, of Findlay, passed away surrounded by loved ones Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024.

He was born Nov. 3, 1946, in Tiffin, to Carl F. and June (Mackling) Huth Jr. He graduated from Hopewell-Loudon High School in 1964.

After graduation, Carl enlisted in U.S. Marine Corp. He served in the Vietnam War from 1965-1967 as part of the 7th Engineer Battalion.

Carl met and married his love, Barbara Polen, in 1978 and she survives.

Carl loved his children, Chad (Carrie) Huth, Heather (Jerry Riffe) Huth, Emily (RJ) Huth-Parker and Kati (Josh) Brandeberry. He was a proud and adoring grandfather to eight grandchildren, Sidney (Brandon) Gaston, Olivia (Chris) Pennington, Alli Beckley, Harley Huth, Jared, Piper, and Graham Brandeberry, and Lux Parker. He had one great-grandson, Taylor Gaston, and is survived by his siblings, Rick (Peggy) Huth, Debi (Dave) Wilson, Kevin Huth, Mike (Lori) Huth, Bonnie (Jim) Zidd, Heidi (Dennis) Burns, and Troy (Lori) Huth, and a host of family and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

Carl was employed at Whirlpool after his military service. Carl also worked for Community Action Commission as Director of Housing and Weatherization Program and served as an Executive Director for Hancock County Habitat for Humanity.

Carl was a talented craftsman who made wooden Oval Shaker Boxes. He loved working on boxes so much he instructed others to create the beautiful boxes. He was led in his instruction by famed box maker John Wilson of Michigan. Carl could be found in his workshop during his retirement working on gifts for family and friends or helping John Wilson with classes. He was a five-time winner for early American craftsmanship from Early American Life magazine. Additionally, Carl was passionate about soccer, a love that began with his son, Chad. Carl loved coaching and watching soccer. Carl coached soccer at all levels, from youth to collegiate. He coached several successful youth soccer teams, including the Findlay Kids.

Anyone who knew Carl knew that he was as a loving father and spouse a family could have asked for.

Carl was preceded in death by his mother, June; and father, Carl.

Just found out today of Carl´s passing. My family is so appreciative of getting to know Carl over the years. He was truly a wonderful man. Almost twenty years ago Carl drove over a hundred miles in bad weather to teach a class in my shop and we have been friends ever since. I wish we had known of Carl´s calling hours. we would have driven the distance to pay our respects. Carl endeared himself to all who knew him. We have all lost a relationship with great guy. Our condolences to family and friends.
