Bonnie Carpenter Obituary

Bonnie J. Carpenter, 83, of Ft Wayne, passed away on Monday January 6, 2025, Bonnie was a native of Detroit and lived her life to the fullest. She met the love of her life, Tom Carpenter on the University of Michigan campus. They were married August 27, 1962 and settled in Ft. Wayne in 1965 to raise their 3 children. Tom survives, along with their daughters, Susie Carpenter and Christy (Scott) Williams. Their son, William Carpenter died in 1987. After losing Billy, they were blessed with two grandsons, Taylor (Michelle) Carpenter and Jesse Dale. No two grandsons were ever loved or spoiled more. Bonnie was further blessed with great-grandchildren, Ian Carpenter and Kash Glavin, whom she adored. She spent her life caring for her family, friends and neighbors. Bonnie never met a stranger. She loved talking to everyone, whether someone in line at her favorite store, or a cashier at Starbucks or someone who worked at the library. She wanted to know everything about them and always had a compliment or uplifting word for them. She loved talking with her friends, and enjoyed reading, shopping, doing puzzles, and she was always working on a craft project. Her greatest joy in life was the time spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, and constant companion-beloved dog, Petunia. A Celebration of Bonnie's Life will be held with a reception from 2-5pm on Friday January 24, 2025, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. To share a remembrance of Bonnie or to offer condolences to her family, please visit DivineMercyFuneralHome.com. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Humane Fort Wayne, FW Public Library, or as she always did, do something nice for someone.

My husband and i met Bonnie when she and her husband moved in next door to us in Georgetowne Place. She was a joy and a blessing to my husband and I. She loved our dogs and just being present. We will miss Bonnie and give our heartfelt condolences to Tom, Susie and the family.

I met Bonnie at the Georgetown Library and loved chatting with her. She was such a wonderful lady. I moved out of state several years ago, but can still hear her voice in my head. My condolences to her family and all who loved her.
