Blanche Tesnow Rader
Blanche Tesnow Rader, age 92, passed away at Bridge Hospice Center in Findlay, Friday, October 10, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Findlay, November 17, 1932, to the late Louis and Mabel L. (Gallatin) Tesnow. Blanche graduated from Findlay High School with the class of 1951. She married Glenn E. Rader, August 15, 1952, in Liberty, Indiana, and they recently celebrated 73 years of marriage.
To this union was born two sons, Glenn D. (Wanda) Rader of Dunkirk and Dale A. (Deb) Rader of Harpster; and one daughter, Pamela Rader of rural Tazewell, Tennessee. Blanche has eight grandchildren, Lacy (John) Gruen of rural Mt. Vernon, Teela (Andrew) Young of rural Millersburg, Drew (Kelli) Rader of Brooksville, Florida, Justin Rader of Lima, Melissa (Nate) Music of Shawnee, Brittani (James) Gentry of Grovetown, Georgia, Dylan Rader of Tazewell, Tennessee, and Joshua (Lauren) Winters of Arizona. She has 17 great-grandchildren, Paul and Matthew Gruen, Guinevere, Merritt, Walker and Maverick Young, Daphne, Kendra, Gabriel, Elijah, and Avigail Rader, Jaila and Blaze Music, and Cayden and Timothy Brewer. She also leaves behind six stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins; and a host of many who were privileged to call her a friend.
Proceeding her in death were her siblings, Robert, Glenn, Phyllis, Lester, Raymond and one stepgrandchild.
Blanche worked as a confidential secretary at the Marion, Indiana, RCA while Glenn was in college. She then assumed the most difficult job in the world, becoming a faithful, rock steady helpmate in her husband's 56 years of pastoral ministry. She played the piano for congregational worship and often sang special numbers in song with her husband while playing her accordion. This took her to Greer, Millersburg, Lima, and Elida, Allentown and Armbrust, Pennsylvania, and Hedgesville, West Virgina, before she and Glenn retired to Pandora. Even though she was active in pastoral ministry, her most treasured asset was her family. To say that she lived for her husband and family would not be an understatement.
Though she worked in short spurts outside the home, she concentrated on her family. Family events and holidays at her home became the highlights of her life (and of her dreams), and she started planning the day after for the next one. Everyone loved "Grandma's cooking" with her turkey dressing, custard pie, and three-bean casserole being favorites. Even though she became weak during the last few months of her life, her face would always light up at the visit of a family member. To know Blanche was to love her. She made friends easily and quickly became an integral part of each congregation in which she and her husband served, as well as the communities nearby. She had an "ornery streak" and loved to tickle feet as she passed by or pull an innocent prank. She became a heroine to her grandchildren and held up her long marriage as a goal for everyone she met.
Surely God broke the mold after her creation!
Blanche has been a lifetime member of the Wesleyan Church. She attended George Street Wesleyan Methodist Church a few days after her birth, where she gave her heart to the Lord, became part of the youth group and met her future husband. After their retirement, she and Glenn have attended her home church, which has changed its name to Bible Methodist Church, and which will be the site of her memorial service.
Service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the church, 529 Stadium Drive, Findlay. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until start of her service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Glenn and Blanche Rader Ministerial Scholarship at God's Bible School, 1810 Young St., Cincinnati, OH 45202.
