Billy R. Nelson Jr.

Billy R. Nelson Jr., also known as Buffy and Pa, 70, of Findlay, lost his 9-year battle with kidney cancer Monday, January 13, 2025. He was born on November 28, 1954, in Prestonburg, Kentucky, to Billy R. Nelson Sr. and Mary (Prater) Nelson. He was a graduate of Findlay High School and had an associate degree in engineering. Billy married his high school sweetheart, Linda M (Miller) Nelson, March 8, 1973, in Monroe, Michigan.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda. Billy had one son, Billy R. Nelson III (Tiffany) of Findlay; three grandchildren, Chae Nelson, Wesley Earl Nelson, and Bella Rae Nelson, all of Findlay; a great-granddaughter, Nollie Rae Nelson of Findlay; a brother, Rodney (Cindy) Nelson of Findlay; sister, Melinda (Mike) Schultz of Troy; nieces and nephews, Ryan Nelson of Findlay, Rachel Nelson of Toledo, Michael Schultz of Troy, Montana (Destiny) Schultz of Troy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a nephew, Randy Nelson.

Billy's greatest love was his family, and he enjoyed spending time with them. He was a millwright for Cooper Tire and Rubber for 41 years and was the treasurer for Local 207L for 16 years. Billy co-owned the first video store in Findlay, owned a satellite business, and owned and ran Billy Jack Ice Cream & Pizza in Benton Ridge. He built rental cabins in the Smokey Mountains and remolded investment properties. He was also president of Blanchard Indian Pow Wow Club. Billy enjoyed going to his cabin in the Smokey's he called Medicine Man, riding his Harley, driving his Polaris Ranger, working on old pinball machines, or tinkering in his barn. His favorite ride was his 1960 Corvette and 1954 Chevy Truck, which his son and friends finished for him after he got sick.

Visitation will be from 4:30-8 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2025, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. A funeral service will be at 4 p.m. before visitation Friday, January 17, 2025, at the funeral home, with Pastor Dan Metzger officiating.

Memorial contributions may be directed towards Shriners Hospitals or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
