Barbara Jean Marshall

Barbara "Barb" Jean Marshall, 89, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 11, 2026, at her daughter's residence. She was born October 20, 1936, in Fostoria, to the late Glen and Marie Allison. She was a 1954 graduate of Carey High School, where she was the class valedictorian. Barbara married Eugene Marshall, October 15, 1954, and he preceded her in death February 8, 1988.

She is survived by her siblings, John Allison, Glenn (Ginny) Allison, and Glenda (Mike) Kinn; six children, Namman (Cheryl) Marshall, Arlington, Tina (Dan) Rall, Upper Sandusky, Vicki Mathern (Mark), Arlington, Amy (Greg) Elchert, Tuscan, Arizona, Sandi (Tom) Marquart, Jenera, and Jeff Marshall (Craig). San Francisco, California. Also surviving are grandchildren, Nathan (Tracy) Metzger, Tiffany Marshall, Scott (Monique) Pahl, JJ (Janine) Rall, Leon Mathern, Chet Mathern, Allison (Scott) Reule, Brittany (Derek) Kerner, and Kreston (Meagan) Elchert; 18 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were siblings, Floyd (Florence) Allison, Velma (Calvin) Coppes, Charles (Anna) Allison, and Joan Hill; infant sister, Baby Florence; second husband, Johnnie Conely; third husband, Melvin "Gene" Kinney; and a grandson, Matthew "Gator" Metzger.

Barbara worked at Porcelain Products in Carey for over 40 years. Following her retirement, she continued working for another 18 years at Sunoco Gas Station outside of Tiffin. She was an avid seamstress who enjoyed knitting, reading, completing crossword puzzles, and bowling. Barbara also cherished her morning walks, took great pride in working in her garden and caring for her flowers, and found joy in feeding her hummingbirds. In the winter, she enjoyed spending time in Arizona with her daughter and son-in-law.

She had a large collection of treasured Swarovski crystal figurines and loved hosting family gatherings, even as they grew beyond the size of her home. Barbara had a special gift for making others feel welcome and was deeply devoted to all of her dogs. She was baptized in the Catholic Church and, while living with her daughter, attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jenera.

Friends and family may visit from 10 a.m.- noon Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Stombaugh-Batton and Snyder Funeral Home in Carey, where a funeral service will follow visitation immediately at noon. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Carey. Following all services, a meal will be served at VFW in Carey.
