B. Beck Obituary

B. Jean Beck

B. Jean (Price) Beck, 87, passed away Tuesday March 21, 2023.

She was born Sept. 16, 1935, in Mt. Blanchard, to Elsworth R. and Mary (Blair) Price. She married John E. Beck on Sept. 12, 1954, and they shared 66 years of marriage.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey (Marilyn) Beck; grandchildren, Taylor Jean, Haylie Maye, Jessica Kay, and Gage John Robert; and brother, Elsworth Jr. (Jean) Price.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 2021; and sister, Betty Rettig.

Jean attended and graduated from Mt. Blanchard Schools where she was a member of FFA, chorus, cheerleading, a majorette, and acted in her junior and senior plays. She enjoyed babysitting, working at Fahl's Restaurant, and S.S. Kresge.

After graduation, she worked for First National Bank of Findlay. In 1956, she joined John in San Francisco, California, where he was stationed for two years and worked at The Bank of California. She was a member of Mt. Blanchard United Methodist Church and served as the financial secretary for 36 years.

She enjoyed many things including walking on the beach, vacations in Cedarville, Michigan, making afghans, and morning devotions. The dove always held a special meaning in her life.

In 1956, she joined The Order of the Eastern Star. She was a dedicated member of the Mt. Blanchard Chapter and was appointed Deputy Grand Matron in 1972. In 1980, Jean was appointed to Grand Chapter Line becoming Worthy Grand Matron in 1984. She was elected Grand Secretary and after 10 years, retired with the title Grand Secretary Emeritus. In 2006, she was hired as General Secretary for Findlay Masonic Bodies, where she still was working.

She enjoyed traveling with John to visit lighthouses, all of the Ohio Bicentennial barns, many states, and overseas. Her best trip was back to San Francisco with her family to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

She dearly loved her family, Jeff and Marilyn, and her grandchildren were the apples of her eye. She and John spent many hours babysitting and attending sporting events. She hosted many tea parties and enjoyed making favorite desserts and noodle casseroles. She loved being called Mom and Grandma.

At her request, there will be no visitation. Private burial will take place for her family.

I was sorry to hear about the passing of your mother and grandmother. I had the pleasure of having her for a neighbor for many years. She was a wonderful lady, very kind and loving and my kids loved playing over in her driveway when they were young. I have only fond memories of her and of John. My thoughts and prayers go out to you Jeff and your family. God bless you all. Lynde,Teia,Luke Shearer and Mark
