Allen M. Schroeder

Allen M. Schroeder, 65, of Kalida, died at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.

He was born April 21, 1958, in Lima, to Rudolph and Lucille (Wehri) Schroeder. His father is deceased and his mother survives in Glandorf. He married Christine Erhart on June 2, 1984, and she survives in Kalida.

Allen's other survivors include three children, Nikki (Ryan) Birkemeier, Renee (Jasen Ollivier) Schroeder, and Tyler (Amber) Schroeder, all of Kalida; eight grandchildren, Hayden, Grayson, Carson, and Kobyn Birkemeier, Trey Dettrow, Griffin Dettrow, Branton Keirns, and Levi Schroeder; five brothers, Richard "Dick" (Sue) Schroeder, Joseph (Deb) Schroeder, David (Deb) Schroeder, Steve (Jan) Schroeder, and Roger (Jenny) Schroeder, all of Glandorf; sister, Rose Ann (Gene Blanton) Stone of Alvada; and beloved fur babies, Sophie and Rosie.

He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Bryce Dettrow.

Allen loved his job as a carpenter. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida, and its Holy Name Society, Kalida Fish and Game, Kalida K of C, and Carpenters 372, Lima. Allen was a man of all trades. He enjoyed camping, playing cards, and being ornery. He always had a wisecrack and wore a crooked smile on his face. Allen loved his family and friends.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 1, 2023, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida, with Fr. Nathan Bockrath officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2023, at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township, where a scripture service will be at 1:45 p.m.
