Alicia Maturino Rivas was born in "La Lagunita", Santiago Papasquiaro, Durango , Mexico on February 13, 1936 to Salvador Maturino and Josefa Rivas. Unfortunately, her mother died when she was just over a year old. She and her three older siblings were raised by her father's godmother. Her father remarried and had three additional siblings. Upon the godmother's death, Alicia now an adolescent, joined her three older siblings who were living in Orange County, California.
She married John Gabriel Juarez and together had four children- Sally, Rosie, Danny, and Gloria. She was a homemaker and continued living in La Habra their entire married life. They had eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was widowed in January 2013.
Alicia was a quiet, woman who loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She babysat most of them as babies and toddlers, along w/ other family member's children.
She was a great cook who made delicious Mexican dishes. Her specialties included menudo, chicharrones, soups, and salsa. The grandchildren loved her fideo.
Alicia passed away on Saturday, January 18th on her and Gabriel's anniversary. She is survived by her daughters Sally and Gloria (preceded by Rosie and Danny), 5 siblings - Manuel, Leonardo, Luz, Justina, and Mel (preceded by Juan Jose (Che Che), and many cousins and friends.
May Alicia rest in eternal peace.
