Alice Thrush Obituary

Alice Gayle Thrush

Alice Gayle Thrush of Arcadia went peacefully to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024.

Alice was born Jan. 24, 1935, to Dallas and Martha (Lawrence) Fox. She was a 1953 graduate of Buckland High School. She retired from Sodexo where she had a long-time career in hospitality. Alice married Gene Thrush on Jan. 22, 1955, and he preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle; sister, Audrey (Fox) Knoch; and brothers, Dallas and David Fox.

Alice is survived by her son, Rodney (Diana) Thrush of Arcadia; grandson, Joseph; granddaughter, Katie; and great-grandchildren, Chelcie, Shy, Zayden, and Carmella. Alice leaves behind many friends and family and was a stranger to no one. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Alice enjoyed many things such as going to the county fair, where she was a fixture at the horse show and gospel tents. She loved baking. She was famous for her peach and pecan pies, but mostly for her Heath Bar cake, which she would never share the recipe for. She absolutely loved Christmas. It was her favorite season. She would start decorating before Thanksgiving and every room in her house was Christmas - from the tree in the living room down to the dishes in the cabinets and coffee mugs on display. She loved making Christmas candy. Her favorite was caramel and hard tack. She would always dress up at Mrs. Claus at the side of Gene dressed as Santa. She was truly the definition of Christmas spirit. Above all, Alice was a very Godly woman. She loved her family and was a force of strength and faith for them and all who knew her.

Alice's celebration of life will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024, at Arcadia United Methodist Church. The family will have a private graveside service at a later date.

Alice's care has been entrusted to COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 W. Sandusky Street, Findlay.

Donations can be made in her honor to Washington Township Fire Department and Arcadia United Methodist Church.

Online condolences may be shared with her family at coldrencrates.com.

Alice was a special lady. She and I were baptized on the same day at East Foulke Ave. Church of God. So sorry to hear that she has passed.
