Alfred Sanchez Obituary

Alfred Ruben Sanchez

It is with heavy hearts we announce that Alfred Ruben "Al" Sanchez, 91, of Vanlue, passed away surrounded by family Monday, March 4, 2024.

He was born in Luling, Texas, to Alfonso and Anita (Davila) Sanchez. He married Patricia (Warren) on Oct. 10, 1998, and she survives.

In life, Alfred gave his heart to his family, his life to his country, and his soul to the Lord. During his career in the military, Alfred was a tank driver in the Audie Murphy infantry division, where he was awarded the Commendation Ribbon with Metal Pendant for his meritorious service. He was also awarded the distinguished Purple Heart military decoration as he rose to the rank of Corporal in the 25th infantry division with heavy tanks in the Korean War from 1951-1953.

As a civilian, Alfred was a member of Hancock County Korean War Veterans Association, Chapter 172, since 2013. Alfred was a devout Christian and worshiped our Lord at Trinity Baptist Church in Findlay. Alfred and Patricia led the Van Ministry for the Awana Youth Group for a period of time during their membership to the church.

Besides the church and military service, Alfred had a long career as a skilled concrete mason for Tuttle and Mosser Construction, respectively.

Alfred will be missed dearly by his friends and family, and is survived by his wife, Patricia; her grandchildren, Marlena, Leon, and Evelyn Rock, Nikki Alford and Phil Wycuff, Cori Rock, Staci Alford and Rich Booth, Sydney Alford, Angela Sanchez and Ryan Weisbrod, Ryan Jr., Noel, and Ava Reinhart, Nathan Sanchez and Kierra Morton, Taliya Hernandez, Jaylan, Kaiden, Treyton, and Aracely Sanchez, Jeff and Diane Geren, Zane Geren, Maria Schofield, Al Jr., and Christopher and Anita.

As Alfred always said, "Drink water and walk slow."

Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 W. Sandusky Street, Findlay. Al's funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Trinity Baptist Church, 7839 CR 236, Findlay. Burial will follow at Trinity Baptist Cemetery.

Contributions in Al's memory may be shared with Hancock County Veterans Administration, 1100 E. Main Cross St. Ste. 123, Findlay.
