Edward L. Kokat
Age 78, of Mokena, IL, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family. Ed was born in Baltimore, MD to the late Edward and Rosa (nee Lambiasa) Kokat.
Beloved husband of Mary Lou (nee Sullivan) Kokat; loving father of Michael (Kathy) Kokat, Chris (Jaclyn) Kokat, and Kim (Chris) Presler; cherished grandfather of Luke Kokat, Connor Kokat, Kaitlyn Kokat, Madelyn Presler, Mason Presler, and Mack Presler; brother of John Kokat, the late Frank Kokat, and Robert Kokat; loved uncle, cousin, and friend of many.
Ed worked for MWRD, Chicago, IL and then for Flagg Creek Water Reclamation District, from where he retired. He served proudly in the U.S. Army Reserves. Family was everything to Ed. He enjoyed spending time with his family going fishing and boating in Wisconsin and Marco Island. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 E. Francis Rd, New Lenox, IL on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 3 pm – 8 pm. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, February 21, 2026, with prayers at the funeral home at 9:30 am then to St. Jude Catholic Church 241 W. 2nd Ave, New Lenox, IL for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Services will end at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Edward's name to either charity, links below.
