Mary Elizabeth Croxton, 100, of Westampton, formerly of Holmdel, NJ and Lakeland, FL, passed away peacefully at Brookdale Westampton in Westampton, NJ. Born on October 5, 1924, in Edgewater, New Jersey, Mary's life was a tapestry of cherished moments and enduring relationships. Her journey began in the heart of Pallisades Park, NJ, where she blossomed into a bright and engaging young woman, graduating from Leonia High School.
Mary's youthful years were marked by a sweet romance with her classmate Fred Croxton. Though their paths diverged after high school, destiny had a grand reunion occurred at their 50th Class Reunion. The sparks that flew reignited a love that led to marriage, and together, they embarked on a life filled with joy and adventure.
Professionally, Mary dedicated herself to a career as a legal secretary for Senator Cahill's office, where she served with distinction for a decade. Her career journey concluded with her retirement from the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA), where she made a lasting impact as a regional secretary. Mary's work ethic and commitment to excellence left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of working alongside her.
Mary's zest for life was evident in her many passions. She was a devoted family matriarch who cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. Mary and Fred, her late husband, embarked on 27 cruises that took them to the far corners of the world. On land, Mary's competitive spirit shone through on the golf course, and her hands were rarely idle as she crafted beautiful knitwear. Her love for games was legendary, and she was known as a total card shark, much to the delight of her family and friends.
Fashion was another of Mary's joys; she was a sharp and stylish dresser, with an eye for detail that ensured everything matched perfectly. Her sense of style was matched only by her bright wit and engaging personality, which made her a beloved figure in any gathering.
Mary's legacy is carried on by her loving family. She is predeceased by her husband, Fred Croxton, and her sisters, Nancy Sievert and Sheila Sculley. Her spirit lives on through her children, Kathy King, Christie Lokey, Brian King (Linda), and Helen Harrand (Vincent); her grandchildren, Lisa Nikolidakis, Michael Nikolidakis, Ryan Lokey, Alex Lokey, Brianna King, Justin King, and Liam King (Lynn); and her great-grandchildren, Olivia Nikolidakis and Sophie Nikolidakis. A host of nieces and nephews also remember her fondly.
Those who knew Mary best would describe her as loving and thoughtful, qualities that she embodied every day of her life. Her bright, funny, and people-smart nature made her a joy to be around, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A committal service will begin at 2:00 pm, on Friday, February 7, 2025, in the mausoleum, at Park View Cemetery at Kirby's Mill, 25 Fostertown Rd, Medford, NJ 08055.
