Mr. Lawrence Hoover Brummell, 88, of Clarksville, VA, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at his residence.
Mr. Brummell was born in Mecklenburg County, VA to the late Edgar P. Brummell and Mamie Evans Brummell on October 9, 1937. He graduated from West End High School and was a lifelong member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church #2 in Clarksville, VA. His occupations included D.C. Fire and Rescue, Mecklenburg Correctional Center, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Town of Chase City, the Department of Homeland Security Center, and Bus driver for Mecklenburg County Public Schools. Mr. Brummell was a veteran of the United States Army. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie McGhee Brummell; and his siblings, Annie Mildred, Edgar Jr., Martin, Alexander, and Charlie.
He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Damita Burwell (George), Lisa Loiseau, and Marjorie Brown (Tyree); six grandchildren, Danielle Burwell, George Burwell II, Bria Loiseau, Elijah Loiseau, Justin Bagley, and Joshua Bagley; brother, George Brummell, Sr. of Clarksville, MD; sister-in-law, Annie Debnam of Palmer Park, MD and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Lawrence Hoover Brummell will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church #2, Clarksville, VA with Rev. Andy Hargrove officiating. Burial with honors will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
