Juan Hernandez Obituary

Juan "Shorty" M. Hernandez, 78, died peacefully on March 7, 2026 in Niles, MI. He was born

October 11, 1947, in Del Rio, TX, the son of Jose P. and Concepcion (Ortiz) Hernandez.

Juan graduated from San Felipe High School in Del Rio, TX, Class of 1967. After

graduation he worked as a farm migrant worker and settled in Southwestern Lower

Michigan working factory positions before nishing his career as a HVAC technician at

Dowagiac Heating and Air until he retired. While working as a farm laborer he met his

sweetheart, Maria G. Quiroz, and they settled in Eau Clare, Mi. They celebrated 54 years

of marriage in May.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Cristina. Surviving in addition

to his wife, Maria (Quiroz) Hernandez, are his son, Juan M. Hernandez Jr. (Jennifer), of

South Bend, IN; two grandchildren, Madyson B. Carrico (Andrew), of South Bend, IN,

Evan D. Hernandez (Savannah), of Cassopolis, MI; great grandchild, Eloise A. Carrico;

two brothers, Ricardo O. Hernandez (Maria), of Del Rio, TX, Estevan O. Hernandez

(Liliana), of Del Rio, TX; many nephews and nieces.

His kindness, strength, and warmth touched every corner of our lives, and his memory

will continue to guide us. He will be deeply missed by his family, his friends, and the

many people whose lives he touched. We are comforted knowing that he is now at

peace.
