Joseph T. Cannon, 82, of Waretown, NJ died surrounded by his loving family on January 9th, 2026.
He was born in Ashland, PA, moved to New Brunswick, NJ in 1955 and graduated from Middlesex County Vo-Tech School in 1962. He went on to marry the love of his life, MaryAnn on November 17th, 1962.
Together they began a family and their own business, Cannon Taxi Service, which served the community from 1974 to 2006.
Throughout his life, Joe enjoyed the simple pleasures of taking road trips, camping, riding motorcycles, concerts and family gatherings.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Nora Cannon and his brother, John. He is survived by his wife MaryAnn (nee Schneider), brother Frank (Sharon), sister Margaret, his 3 children, daughters JoAnn Cort (Mike), Jacqui Bethanis (John), and his son Joseph. Also surviving are his loving 7 grandchildren, Michael, Brittany, Dan, Joe, Emily, Dana, Matthew, 2 great grandchildren Danny and Shay along with many nieces and nephews and a group of friends that are like family to him.
A Viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 13th, 2026 from 9:00-11:00 am at the Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home, 335 South Main Street, Barnegat, NJ 08005. A Funeral Liturgy will be at 11:30am at St. Mary's RC Church, 747 West Bay Ave, Barnegat. Entombment will follow at St. Mary's Parish Cemetery in Manahawkin.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in Joe's name would be appreciated.
