Jose Muro Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Family Service Funeral Parlor on Feb. 12, 2026.
Jose "Freddy" Alfredo Muro, age 47, passed from this life on February 10, 2026, in Odessa. Born on September 30, 1978, in Portales, New Mexico, to Jose Angel and Margarita (Ornelas) Muro, Jose was a beloved son, husband, and friend whose life was rooted in family and devotion. On August 16, 2008, he married Tanya Yvette Valdez in Midland.

Jose, lovingly known as "Freddy" to friends and family, had a deep love for the cowboy life and found his greatest joy in horses, roping, and the open air. Whether he was working long hours or spending time perfecting his roping skills, he carried himself with quiet strength and dedication. A tireless worker with a generous heart, he never hesitated to lend a helping hand or open his home to animals in need, adopting every stray dog he could. He was especially cherished as "Mama Chepa's" favorite, a title he carried with pride and affection. Freddy's warmth, resilience, and big-hearted spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to treasure his memory are his loving wife, Tanya Muro of Midland, TX, his father, Jose Angel Muro of Odessa, TX; his mother, Margarita Rodriguez and husband Efrain of Kermit, TX; and his beloved grandmother, Josefa Venegas of McCamey, TX, whose love helped shape his life. He leaves behind his children, who were the pride and joy of his heart: Joel Lopez and wife Natalie, and Alex Pando and wife Abril, both of Midland, TX; Omeaga Muro of Midland, TX; Sonya Muro of Monahans, TX; and Destiny Lopez of San Marcos, TX. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Messiah, Madeleine, Adamari, and Alex Jr, who brought him endless happiness and a smile that could light up any room. Jose is also lovingly remembered by his brothers, Jesus Ornelas and wife Marie of Odessa, TX, and Efrain Rodriguez Jr. and wife Lisa of Victoria, TX; and by his sisters, Josie Tercero and Jesenia Ortiz and husband Jesse, all of Midland, TX; Jennette Urquidi and husband Albert, and Jadira Rodriguez, all of Kermit, TX. He shared a special bond with each of them, built on laughter, loyalty, and a lifetime of memories that will forever be held close to their hearts.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of his life. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Family Services Funeral Chapel. A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 16, at Family Services Funeral Parlor in Kermit. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at St. Thomas St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kermit, with burial to follow at Kermit Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jose Ornelas, Efrain Rodriguez, Alex Pando, Genaro Ornelas Jr., Joel Lopez, and Jesus Ornelas Jr., honoring him as he is laid to rest.
