Eva Woods Obituary

Eva Mae Woods, 81, of Rainbow City, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2025 at Piedmont Health Care Center after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Percy and Essie Woods; sisters, Evelyn Boles (Earl), Edna Faulkner, and Emma Jo Roberts (Stanley); brothers, J.M., Marcus (Walala), Argulous (Dorothy), James, Franklin (Joyce), Percy Aaron and Jack. She is survived by her sister, Ellan Wheeler; sister-in-law, Jeanette W. Griffith; a host of nieces and nephews, a chosen sister, Rita Thomas; and a godson, Joseph Stanley. Miss Woods was a 1962 graduate of Spring Garden School and was a 1965 graduate of the Holy Name of Jesus School of Nursing. She had a long and rewarding career in nursing at Holy Name of Jesus Hospital and U.A.B. where she was awarded "Excellence In Nursing" in 2003. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Goshen Cemetery with Rev. Scott Smith officiating and Thompson Funeral Home in charge. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
