Emilie was born June 14, 1936, in Colby to Walter and Nina (Riemer) Loos. She received her education in Colby. She was united in marriage to Edward Kappel on April 27, 1957, in Marshfield.
Emilie was employed by St. Joseph's Hospital for 33 years as a nursing assistant. After retirement, she volunteered for many years at Hannah Center. She was a member of Christ the King parish in Spencer. Nothing brought more joy to Emilie than her children and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always our Grandma Emmy. Polka dancing was a highlight for Emilie and Ed, as well as traveling and playing cards. Mom loved her pets, most recently with Oliver, until she moved to Three Oaks Health Services. Then she had Patches, Annie, and Kitty, her forever stuffed animals.
Emilie is lovingly survived by her children, James (Cindy) Kappel of Lake Dubay, and Sharon (Tim) Meyer of Marshfield. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jenna (Eric) Drengler of Ringle, Tyler (Allisa) Brock of Waunakee, Logan (Katrina) Brock of Athens. Great-grandchildren, Danica, Brooklyn, and Kaitlyn Drengler. Step-grandchildren Candy (Jake) Zschernitz, Crystal (Brian) Varsho, Jeremy Meyer, Megan Meyer. Step-great-grandchildren, Kaya (Blade) Begert, Keigan and Breyer Zschernitz, Riley, Ted, Maple Schultz-Becker, and Brianna and Ayden Varsho. Emilie is further survived by her brother, Dean (Ann) Loos of Colby.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her infant daughter, Sandra Ann; her parents, Walter and Nina Loos; her sisters, Marcella Sauer and Lorraine Morrow; and her brother, Darrell Loos.
The family wishes to extend our most gratitude to the staff at Three Oaks Health Services and Heartland Hospice. Their love and compassion went beyond anything we could imagine.
