Denise Jones Obituary

Denise Young Jones, 74, of Wichita Falls, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026.

The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 22nd at Lunns. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 23rd at St. John the Divine Anglican Church, 1000 S. Berry Street, Burkburnett, Texas, with Father John Munson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Denise Jones was many things to many people. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished Mammo and Nanna, and the steady voice of reason within her family. She embraced each of these roles with grace, guided by the love of Christ that filled her heart.

An avid equestrian, Denise's passion for horses was lovingly passed down to her granddaughter, Bayleigh Leathers. She was a faithful and dedicated member of the Anglican Church and deeply loved her church family. Denise served our Lord Jesus Christ by sharing her musical gifts as a member of the church choir, lifting her voice in worship each Sunday.

Denise graduated from Bauder Fashion College in Arlington, Texas, earning an Associate of Arts degree in Design in 1970. She was a talented and creative artist who found great joy in sewing and expressing her creativity.

She had a love for reading and treasured time spent outdoors. Denise especially enjoyed riding bicycles alongside her husband, Jerry. In earlier years, lots of cherished memories were created at the lake-boating, water skiing, and soaking in the beauty of nature.

One of her most beloved places was Lake City, Colorado, where she spent many summers vacationing with her siblings, Alice and Lance. There, she delighted in fishing, white-water rafting, and panning for gold.

Along with her parents, Mary Irma (Browne) and Claud Young, Denise was preceded in death by her first husband, Tom Young and grandson, Chance Fernandez.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Jones; her children, Trey Young and wife, Misty and Lisa Leathers and husband, Cotton; her beloved grandchildren, Bayleigh and Spur Leathers, Caleb Bertram and wife, Novey, and Jaci Fernandez; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Ella, Easton, Eli, and Eleighse, each of whom brought her immense joy.

Above all, Denise dedicated her life to her family, her home, and her children. Her unwavering faith, gentle spirit, and boundless love will be forever remembered and deeply missed.
