Irene VanHove, 94, of Ackley, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley with burial in Northlawn Memory Gardens in Iowa Falls. Visitation will be an hour before the service. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley.

Irene Mae VanHove was born June 12, 1931 to Eilard H.Muller and Pauline (Aldinger) Muller in Faulkner, Iowa. Irene attended Hazel Green Country School and graduated from Ackley High School in 1949. Irene was united in marriage to Meint VanHove on June 13, 1949, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Ackley, Iowa and to this union two sons and one daughter was born.

Irene and Meint farmed together until Meint's stroke in 2002 when they moved into the Genesis apartment at the Grand JiVante.

Irene was a very loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was very involved in the church and was a member of the Ladies Aid Society. Irene was a very good cook and one of her favorite things was helping out with serving and preparing meals that were served at the church over the years.

Irene enjoyed gardening, canning, playing cards, sewing and quilting, shopping for bargains and attending all her grandchildren's activities. There was nothing she loved more than spending time with her family and friends.

Irene is survived by her sons, Mike (Carol) VanHove of Ackley, Iowa and Craig (Cindy) VanHove of Traer, Iowa, and a daughter, Jolene (Steve) Meis of LeMars, Iowa, two brothers, Ken (Lorna)

Muller of Tipton, Iowa, LaVerne Muller of Hampton, Iowa, sisters-in-law, Phyllis Muller of Oelwein, Iowa, JoAnn Gorder of Bradford, Iowa and Mary Jane Hickman of Pella, Iowa, Gladys Burton of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson. She also leaves behind numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Eilard and Pauline Muller, her husband, Meint, her brother, Lester Muller, her sisters-in-law, Betty Engelson and Ruth Muller, her brothers-in-law, Rick Engelson, Gary Gorder, Ben VanHove, George VanHove, and Larry Hickman.
