Billy Laviner Obituary

Mr. Billy Gene Laviner, age 87, passed away on October 8, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Gayle Parker Holder; his daughter Della Rose Laviner Woollen, spouse Lee Woollen, grandchildren Kaitlyn Marie Woollen and Victoria Rose Woollen; his daughter Anita Lynn Laviner Linton, spouse Ron Linton, grandchildren Josiah Franklin Linton, Amelia Lynn Linton, and Isaac Franklin Linton; his step-son Raymond Lee Holder II, spouse Penny Mills Holder, grandchild Summer Holder Gilbert, spouse Tyler Gilbert, and great grandchild Brantley Wayne Gilbert; his step daughter Rhonda Gayle Holder, grandchild Carolyn "Cara" Gayle Holder.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 21 years, Rose Marie Lynn Laviner of Durham; his brothers Lonnie Benford Laviner, Horace Laviner, and his sisters Esther Laviner Ace, Doris Laviner Moser, and Geraldine Laviner Rhew.
Born September 5, 1938 in Wagram, Gene was the son of the late Lonnie Edward Laviner and Minnie Rae Laviner.
He graduated from Wagram High School and attended Saint Andrew's College in Laurinburg, NC.
While attending college he was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam war and was stationed in Virginia and Kentucky. After his discharge he began working at CCB bank in Durham, and quickly moved to accounting at Liggett & Myers for 25 years till its closing. He later worked for the Department of Transportation and the Secretary of State's office till his retirement. He loved the beach and long walks, Las Vegas, watching any football or basketball game, Westerns, and Christmastime.
A memorial Service will be held at O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home, 1310 S. Main Street, Lillington, NC on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 11:00 am.
