Larry Stevens Obituary

Larry Russell Stevens
06/28/1944 - 01/28/2026
Larry Russell Stevens was born June 28, 1944 in Houston, Texas to Clifford H. Stevens and Jennie Berry Stevens.

When Larry was six months old, his family built the Anchor Resort on the Grand Lake of the Cherokees in northeastern Oklahoma and owned and operated the resort for 15 years.

Larry lived a charmed childhood - hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors and all its opportunities.

Larry, with his parents, moved back to Houston, Texas at age 15 - and he graduated from Milby High School in 1962 - and he headed to Austin and The University of Texas. He majored in finance and graduated with a BBA in 1966. Anyone that knew Larry well, knew his devotion to the University of Texas in Austin. Even though he had a place in his heart for his fond memories of his childhood in Grove, Oklahoma, he was totally devoted to Texas. He was a life member of the Texas EX Association. He met the love of his life in high school, Virginia Gail Williams and they attended the University of Texas at the same time. Larry was a member of the Acacia fraternity and he lettered in intramurals. During his life, he was an avid hunter - hunting all over Texas. He served in the Texas Army National Guard as a paratrooper. He worked in the oil industry and banking industry for several years and attended South Texas College of Law - when he landed the job he always wanted - Stockbroker - and for 42 years he worked as a broker at Merrill Lynch, Prudential, Wachovia and Wells Fargo. He was a life member of the Methodist Church: the Grove, Oklahoma Methodist Church, St. Andrew's Methodist (Houston), Park Place Methodist Church (Houston) and St. Paul's United Methodist Church (Houston). While a member; he served in many roles as a lay man of the church.

Larry was a firm believer in community service - he served over 25 years as Vice President and President of his civic clubs.

Larry is survived by his wife of 59 years, Virginia Gail Williams Stevens and he had one beloved daughter Stephanie Scarlet Stevens Geraldi and his son-in-law Col. Mark A. Geraldi.

Larry always said do not grieve for me - face life and smile.
