James Myers Obituary

James Dermott Myers passed away on July 22, 2025. Jim was born on July 29, 1939, to the late James Dermott Myers, Sr. and Mary Matta Myers in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Jim graduated from Central Cambria High School on the twenty-seventh of May, 1957. He then enlisted in the Navy aboard a submarine for 4 years. Jim attended Saint Francis College and graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. His goal was to assist the MH/MR population in PGH and surrounding areas. He became a rehabilitation counselor in Johnstown, then a supervisor in PGH., unit manager at Marcy, acting director at Mayview State Hospital and final employment was Administrator of the Western region for MH/MR. Jim and Donna, his wife of 30 years, moved to Bluffton, SC, in 2005. Jim enjoyed golf and socializing with his many friends. Jim was an active member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Bluffton, SC.

Jim is survived by his siblings, sister Mary (Steve) and brother Francis; Sons, James (Kimberly), Mark (Melissa), and Joshua. Grandchildren, Christopher (Kasey), Madelyn (Tyler), Clara, Jake, and Alex.

Jim was so blessed to have care from the great staff at the Bluffton Radiation and Oncology Center as well as the Agape nurses. Also, for the many prayers by family, neighbors and friends. A special thank you to Mitzi and Atlas for their daily visit.
